overview
The Abbe refractometer is an instrument for measuring the average dispersion nF-nC and the refractive index nD of solid, translucent liquid or transparent , such as the mass fraction of sucrose solution (Brix). If the instrument is connected with a thermostat, it can measure the refractive index nD within the temperature range of 0℃-70℃. Commonly used in daily chemical industry, paint industry, oil industry , pharmaceutical industry , petroleum industry, sugar industry and other factories and scientific research institutions.
Lighting and darkening borderline technique
Prerequisite: The refractive index of the sample is known
Press the " READ " key, the screen will display the value of the currently tested sample. If the value displayed is higher than the value of the known sample refractive index, slowly rotate the handwheel counterclockwise, and then press " READ " key, the value on the screen will become lower. When the value of the screen is adjusted to be close to the value of the refractive index of your known sample, it will be easier to find the image of the boundary between light and dark when observing the eyepiece. After finding it, turn the chromatic aberration handwheel to eliminate the color around the boundary line between light and dark, leaving only the light and dark part and the adjustment is completed.
