Determination of adhesives

Stickies refer to a water- and caustic-soluble organic substance in pulp, usually including resin, starch, protein and other organic impurities. The following are several commonly used sticky determination methods:

  • Resin determination method: After the pulp sample is filtered, washed and dried, caustic soda solution is added to dissolve the resin and go through steps such as filtering, washing and drying, and finally weigh to obtain the mass of the resin.

  • Starch determination method: After the pulp sample is filtered, washed and dried, an enzymatic hydrolysis solution is added to convert the starch into glucose, and the content of glucose is determined by colorimetry, and finally the mass of the starch is calculated.

  • Hot water extraction method: Add the pulp sample into hot water for stirring and heating, so that the sticky matter is dissolved in water, and after filtering, drying and other steps, the mass of the sticky matter is finally weighed.

  • Acid leaching extraction method: Add the pulp sample to dilute hydrochloric acid for acid leaching, so that the stickies are dissolved in the acid, and after filtering, washing, drying and other steps, the mass of the stickies is finally weighed.

NBCHAO reminds you: Different sticky determination methods are suitable for different pulp samples, and the accuracy of the determination method is affected by many factors, including experimental conditions, reagent purity, instrument precision, etc. Therefore, when measuring stickies, scientific experimental design and operating procedures should be followed to ensure the reliability of the measurement results.
