Determination of paper transparency

Paper clarity refers to the ability of paper or board to transmit light and can be measured by the degree to which light passes through the paper. Usually expressed by light transmittance or transparency value, the higher the transparency value, the better the light transmittance of the paper. Transparency is very important in the fields of printing, packaging and making transparent products. For example, in book printing, transparency can affect the clarity and contrast of text and pictures. For packaging materials, transparency can affect the display effect of products. In addition, transparency is also an important indicator of paper quality, and high-quality paper should have a certain degree of transparency.

Paper transparency can be measured by the following steps:

  2. Place the transparency meter on the test bench and set it up according to the equipment instructions.

  3. Place a standard light source on the test bench and turn on the power.

  4. Put the standard sample on the test bench, press the calibration key of the transparency meter, and calibrate according to the equipment manual.

  5. Put the paper sample to be tested on the test table, and adjust the test mode of the transparency meter.

  6. Press the test key of the transparency meter and wait for the test result.

  7. Record test results and perform data analysis.
