The classic WXG-4 disc polarimeter is easy to operate and has a wide range (±180 degrees). The instrument is suitable for measuring the optical rotation of optically active compound solutions, and the measurement accuracy is 0.05 degrees.

Operating Features

The WXG-4 disc polarimeter is equipped with a standard sodium lamp with a wavelength of 589nm. After the power is turned on, the light source of the sodium lamp is projected onto the condenser, and after the polarizer, it is divided into ordinary light and extraordinary light. Through the eyepiece of the instrument, you can See a light display that is dark on one side and bright on the other.

Put the test tube containing the optically active compound solution into the sample chamber, turn the handwheel slowly to find the light that is consistent with the zero point, and then read the reading on the dial from the magnifying glass, which is the optical rotation value of the sample. After the measurement, you can calculate the purity, concentration, content and specific rotation of the substance through the optical rotation value.
