Introduction

The AQUADUR test strip determines the hardness of water quickly and easily, and the clear change in color from green to red ensures accurate degrees.

The hardness of water depends mainly on the amount of calcium and magnesium salts in the water. The total amount of these salts determines the actual hardness of the water. In the United States, the hardness of water is expressed in ppm (mg/L) calcium carbonate. In general, water is usually simply classified as "soft" and "hard" water. In general, the following values apply to these terms:

Less than 50 ppm calcium carbonate – very soft water

50 - 120 ppm calcium carbonate – soft water

120 - 240 ppm calcium carbonate - medium-hard water

240 - 360 ppm calcium carbonate water

It's hard to exceed 360 ppm calcium carbonate – water

The hardness of water plays an important role in daily life and in a wide range of industries and applications. Hard water can even affect the taste and appearance of food.
