Applications

This instrument is designed in accordance with the relevant provisions of the national standard GB/T8942 "Determination of Paper Softness". This instrument is a test instrument that simulates the softness of the hand. It is suitable for the softness determination of high-grade paper, tobacco sheets, fiber fabrics and other materials.

 The principle of softness

Under specified conditions, when the plate probe presses the sample to a certain depth (about 8mm) in the slit, the sum of the bending resistance of the specimen itself and the maximum vector of friction between the specimen and the gap is called the softness, expressed in millinewtons, and the smaller the softness value, the softer the specimen.
