        Application

        The cross-hatch adhesion Tester is designed and manufactured according to the ISO2409-1974 standard. It is mainly suitable for the determination of the cross-hatch adhesion of organic coatings. It is not only suitable for laboratories, but also for construction sites under various conditions.

        Principle

        The instrument cuts and penetrates the coating as a lattice pattern with a tool of a certain specification, and the completed pattern is classified into six grades to evaluate the resistance of the coating to separation from the substrate.

        There are three types of multi-blade cutting knives (1mm 2mm 3mm ) for the cross-cutting device , which can be selected according to different test conditions. The multi-blade cutting knives with 1mm spacing are suitable for test pieces with a coating film thickness < 60um; the multi-blade cutting knives with 2mm spacing The knife is suitable for the test piece with a coating film thickness of 60-120um, and the blade cutting knife with a 3mm spacing is designed for special purposes. The test piece should be made of steel, tinplate, aluminum or glass.

        How to operate the cross-hatch adhesion Tester:

        1. The test piece needs to be prepared according to the provisions of ISO R1514 and ISO 2808.

        2. Place the test piece on a flat plate with sufficient hardness.

        3. Hold the handle of the scratcher and make the multi-edged cutting knife perpendicular to the plane of the test piece.

        4. Cut with uniform pressure, steady and non-vibrating technique and cutting speed of 20-50mm/S.

        5. Rotate the test piece at an angle of 90 degrees, and repeat the above operation on the incision made to form a grid pattern.

        6. Use a soft brush to brush the test piece gently backward 5 times and forward 5 times along the two diagonal lines of the grid pattern.

        7. The test shall be completed at least on three different positions of the test piece. If the test results of the three positions are different, the test shall be repeated on more than three positions, and all the results shall be recorded at the same time.

        8. If you need to replace the multi-blade cutting knife, you can use a screwdriver to loosen the two screws on the knife body, replace the knife used, stick the edge of the knife to the side of the handle, and tighten the screws.

        Precautions

        1. All cuts should penetrate the coating, but not too deep into the substrate.

        2. If the coating cannot penetrate the substrate because the coating is too thick and hard, the test is invalid, but it should be stated in the test report.

        3. In special cases or when there are special requirements, it must be determined with the adhesive tape method. The tape is generally a translucent tape with a width of 25mm, and the back material is polyester film or acetate fiber. Stick the tape on the entire grid, and then use The minimum angle is torn off, and the result can be obtained by the ratio of the surface of the paint film to the peeling area.

        4. The test should be carried out at a temperature of 23 ± 2°C and a Relative Humidity of 50 ± 5%.
