        Coating Density Determination Experiment

        Equipment and Utensils

        1. Precision balance: the specific gravity cup with a capacity of 50ml to 100ml is accurate to 10mg, and the specific gravity cup with a capacity of less than 50ml is accurate to 1mg. (bring your own)

        2. Mercury thermometer: 0~50°C with a scale of 0.2°C. (bring your own)

        3. Specific gravity cup

        Experimental measurement steps

        1) Before the test, wipe clean the inside and outside of the specific gravity cup, put the specific gravity cup on the balance tray after drying, and weigh the specific gravity cup m1.

        2) Take off the upper cover of the specific gravity cup, put the sample to be tested close to the mouth of the cup (note that there should be no foam), cover it, and when the excess part of the sample overflows from the small hole in the center of the cover, clean it with a clean Wipe clean with a rag.

        3) Gently place the specific gravity cup filled with the sample on the balance tray to weigh, and record the mass m2 of the specific gravity cup filled with the tested product.

        4) The specific gravity is calculated according to the following formula:

        QBB specific gravity cup density calculation formula

        In the formula:

        m1——the mass of empty specific gravity cup, unit is (g);

        m2——at the test temperature, the mass of the specific gravity cup filled with the sample, the unit is (g);

        vt - specific gravity cup volume at test temperature.

        When measuring with a specific gravity cup, it is best to sample twice and take the arithmetic mean.

        FAQ

        [Q]
        Can Oil Coatings Be Tested With This Specific Gravity Cup?
        [A]
        Sure.
        [Q]
        I want to do a test on the GB/T21862.5 standard. Is this Density Cup okay?
        [A]
        Sure
        [Q]
        How to use the Coating Specific Gravity Cup?
        [A]
        Hello, first weigh out the empty Specific Gravity Cup m1 with the lid on the Balance; then put the sample into the Specific Gravity Cup and cap it, weigh it with Balance, record the Specific Gravity Cup weight m2 of the filled sample, and then calculate it according to the Density formula. The Density of the Coating sample can be obtained.
