Introduction
The HI96812 Juice and Wine Brix Refractometer Analyzer uses Baume degrees as the unit of measurement. Baume degrees are a way of expressing the concentration of a solution, originally designed to measure the amount of sodium chloride in water. Baume degrees are used in the winemaking industry to measure the sugar content in grape juice. According to the official analysis method of the International Association for Official Analysis and Testing, HI96812 can convert % Brix readings into Baume degrees. One wave of beauty is approximately equal to 1.8% Brix. When the wine is fully fermented, one wave of beauty can also be roughly calculated as 1% alcohol content.
working principle
The actual measurement of the refractive index is simple and fast and provides vintners with a standard and acceptable method of analyzing sugar content. Samples are measured after simple user calibration using deionized or distilled water. Within seconds, the instrument measures the refractive index of the grapes. These digital refractometers eliminate the uncertainties associated with mechanical refractometers and are the choice for fast, reliable measurements.
