        Introduction

        The solution with pesticide residues extracted from the sample is generally very low, and the extract must be concentrated before the next purification or detection to reduce its volume and increase the concentration of pesticides, which is conducive to the purification step. In the concentration process, attention should be paid to preventing the loss of pesticides, especially pesticides with high vapor pressure and poor stability. Among the various operational steps of pesticide residue analysis, concentration is the most harmful to pesticides. Therefore, general distillation methods cannot be used. However, regardless of the method of concentration, the solvent should not be evaporated, and the pesticide is most likely to be lost when it is evaporated. In general, during concentration, an inhibiting evaporation agent such as ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol that does not interfere with the analysis are added to the extract solution to prevent the solvent from drying out and the pesticide loss. The commonly used concentration method is nitrogen blow-drying.
