MODERNER ZHY Automatic Scratch meter for the determination of coating penetration and marring resistance of Paints and varnishes

Introduction

ZHY automatic scratch Tester is carefully designed and manufactured in MODERNER according to the relevant provisions of GB9279 "Scratch Test of Pigment and Varnish" and ISO 12137-2 "Determination of Scratch Resistance of Pigment and Varnish". This Tester is used to determine the scratch and scratch resistance of single or composite coating systems or water-based wood paints for basecoats and varnishes under standard conditions. ZHY automatic scratch meter adopts a large speed ratio and large output torque gear reducer to ensure that the movement speed of the scribing needle is constant under different test loads, so that the test results have high accuracy. At present, the ZHY automatic scratch meter can do the test of two substrates. One is to test the scratch resistance of the coating of the pigment paint and the varnish water-based wood paint, the substrate is metal, and whether the paint film is scratched can be intuitively obtained by the indication of the voltmeter on the instrument, and the other is to test the scratch resistance of the water-based wood paint, the substrate is wood, and whether the paint film is scratched is obtained by the naked eye or magnifying glass.

Main structure

The automatic scratch meter uses a constant speed motor to drive the scribing needle to slide through the rack and pinion transmission, and the scribing needle is perpendicular to the paint film. The tip of the needle is a hemispherical needle made of hard steel with a diameter of 1 mm. There is a bracket above, and weights from 50g to 2000g can be placed on the bracket as needed. At the rear of the bracket there is a balance weight that is used to balance the bracket automatically. The rotating shaft of the weight holder is supported by ball bearings, which rotates flexibly and reduces the friction torque, so that the pressure applied to the tip of the diamond scribing needle has good repeatability, that is, the test results have good repeatability.ZHY Automatic Scratch MeterIt is provided with a clamping mechanism for clamping the test plate. The rear of the bracket is provided with a needle lifting bolt that is used to lift the needle when the needle is reset. There is a voltmeter on the panel of ZHY automatic scratch meter, when the paint film on the template is cut through by the scratch needle, the voltmeter has an indication, so that it can be determined whether the paint film is scratched through, eliminating human error.

Procedure

1. Preparation before the test:

(1) Preparation of test board:

a) Material and size: Unless otherwise specified or agreed, the size of the test plate substrate should be a rectangle of 150×70mm, and meet the requirements of GB9271 for tinplate plate, thin steel plate and duralumin plate. If the sample to be tested requires brushing, the size of the substrate used should be slightly larger, the whiskering should be parallel to the short side of the plate, and after drying, a 150×70mm test plate can be cut on the short side of the board. The base material of water-based wood paint is wood.

b) Treatment and coating of test plates: Unless otherwise specified or agreed, it should be carried out in accordance with GB9271, and then the samples to be tested should be applied in accordance with the prescribed method.

c) Drying of the test plate: Unless otherwise specified, the test plate should be dried according to the provisions of the tested product. Then the test plate should be dried at a temperature of (23±2)°C, Relative Humidity (50±5)%, and then dry for at least 16 hours before the test.

(2) Ambient temperature: Unless otherwise specified, the test should be conducted at (23±2) °C and (50±5)% Relative Humidity.

2. Operation method:

(1) Will BenZHY Automatic Scratch MeterIt is placed on a stable, flat test bench with the operator facing the instrument.

(2) Remove the stitch, and use a magnifying glass to observe that the needle of the stitch should be smooth and hemispherical, without obvious abrasion and no dirt, otherwise it should be replaced with a new stitch. The mounting height of the scribing needle and guide post can be adjusted according to the thickness of the test plate.

(3) Unscrew the set bolt on the specimen grip at the left end, put it under the fixing plate, the coating of the test plate is up, and then screw the set bolt.

(4) Plug the power plug into the power outlet located on the wall and turn on the power switch.

(5) The following operations need to do three tests on each of the two test plates:

a) Pass/fail test of fixed load: put the required weights on the weight holder. PressZHY Automatic Scratch Meteron the "scratch" press twist. If the voltmeter has an indication in the process of scratching, it proves that the paint film has been scratched.

b) Determination of the minimum load test for penetrating the coating: start with a small load and gradually increase the load in appropriate increments until the coating is penetrated. Repeat the test with the load on the unmarked part of the board and another new plate, and after the results are consistent, note the minimum load value.

(6) RotationZHY Automatic Scratch MeterLift the needle bolt on the right, remove the test plate and observe.

(7) Press the "Reset" button, then the needle will return to its original position, and the next scratch can begin.

Precautions

1. If it is a scratch resistance test for water-based wood paint, because the substrate is wood, there is no indication in the voltmeter. Remove the test plate after the scratch and observe whether the test board is scratched. An appropriate magnifying glass can be used as needed, but the magnification should be noted in the test report.

2、ZHY Automatic Scratch MeterThe balance weight on the bracket is used to balance the weight of the bracket, the machine has been adjusted to determine the position when leaving the factory, please do not easily loosen the screws on the balance weight, so as not to affect the accuracy of the test.

3. After all the tests are over, remove the weight, put it back in its original place, and cover the lid of the wooden box to protect the cleanliness of the ZHY automatic scratch instrument.
