Introduction

Pencil hardness testing is a method of scratch hardness testing that can be used to quickly evaluate painted products. This method is only suitable for hardness testing on smoother surfaces. 

Pencil hardness test, also known as Warval Willbonn pencil test, is to use a variety of pencils of different hardness, at a certain angle (45 degrees) with the surface of the paint film, with a certain force (765 grams) on the surface of the paint film, just scratch the hardness of the pencil that breaks the paint film, it is specified as the scratch hardness of the paint film.
