This standard is used to determine the adhesion of the paint film, i.e. the gluing fastness of the paint film to the substrate. The integrity of the paint film is assessed and expressed as a grade by performing a circular roll line scratch test on the paint film. Tinplate plates and an adhesion tester are used in the test. The operation includes sample preparation, instrument adjustment and scratch detection. Results The integrity of the scratch checked by a quadruple magnifying glass is rated on a scale from 1 (best adhesion) to 7 (worst adhesion). The standard provides a systematic method for evaluating the adhesion of the paint film, which is applicable to all types of painting products.
