The standard BS ISO 289-1:2015 Unvulcanized Rubber, Determination with a Shear Disc Viscometer, Determination of Mooney Viscosity specifies the use of a Shear Disc Viscometer (MDR) for the measurement of Mooney viscosity (ML/MC) of unvulcanized rubber. This method is suitable for evaluating the rheological properties of rubber during processing, in particular for the analysis of its mixing state, processing performance and vulcanization characteristics. Mooney viscosity is an important parameter reflecting the viscosity of rubber and can help to evaluate the processability of rubber and its changes during vulcanization. The standard describes in detail the test equipment, specimen prepative, test conditions and data processing methods to ensure the accuracy and repeatability of test results.
