The ASTM D1212-1991 (2007) E1 standard provides two test methods for measuring wet film thickness of organic coatings. Method A uses a wet film thickness gauge, suitable for measuring wet film thickness up to 60 mils or 700 microns; Method B uses a Pfund gauge, suitable for measuring wet film thickness up to 14.2 mils (360 microns). The standard helps predict dry film thickness and provides an opportunity to correct procedures during construction.
