The ASTM D3928-2000A (2010) standard specifies a method for evaluating the color or Gloss uniformity of a Coating. This method visually evaluates changes in Gloss or Gloss by applying the Coating with a brush on a test plate that simulates the interior-wall section. These changes may be caused by short wet edge times, poor levelling, and pigment orientation or flotation during and after application. Since application and evaluation are very subjective, this method is only applicable to comparative tests in the same laboratory, and rating results from different laboratories are often inconsistent. SI unit values given in the standard should be considered as standards, and values in parentheses are for reference only.
