      The ISO 1522-2006 standard specifies a method for determining the Hardness of paint and varnish films by means of a pendulum damping test. This method assesses the Hardness of paint films by measuring the decay time of the pendulum damping rod as it swings on the surface of the paint sample. The pendulum damping hardness gauge (such as the Koenig pendulum or Persaz pendulum) is used for testing, and the longer the decay time of the swing, the higher the Hardness of the paint film. The test needs to be carried out in a temperature-controlled Humidity environment to ensure accuracy. This standard provides a standardized test method for the assessment of paint and varnish Hardness.
