BS EN ISO 9227-2017 Man-made atmospheric corrosion test salt spray test is an international standard detailing equipment, reagents and procedures for conducting neutral salt spray (NSS), acetic acid salt fog (AASS) and copper accelerated acetic acid salt fog (CASS) tests for assessing the corrosion resistance of metallic materials and their coatings. The standard describes methods for assessing corrosion in the test chamber environment, but does not specify specimen size, exposure period for a particular product or interpretation of results. These details should be provided in the corresponding product specification. This test is particularly suitable for detecting discontinuities in metal and organic coatings, such as pores and Miscellaneous defects, and is not suitable for sorting corrosion resistance of different materials or predicting long-term corrosion resistance.
