      This standard specifies a method for the determination of formaldehyde content in vegetables by High performance liquid chroma-tography, HPLC. It is suitable for the quantitative determination of formaldehyde content in vegetable samples, and the quantitative limit of the method is 2.0 mg/kg. This method extracts formaldehyde from the sample by water, reacts with 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine under acidic conditions to form a compound, and then extracts and condenses it with dichloromethane, and finally quantifies it by High Performance Liquid Chromatograph.
