This standard specifies the terminology, principles, requirements, inspection and reporting of sulfate chlorine-free bleached pulp. It applies to virgin pulps such as sulfate chlorine-free bleached wood pulp and non-wood pulp, but does not include recycled pulp. The terms involved, such as sulfate pulp, chlorine-free bleaching and organochlorine, are clearly defined. The principle of the standard is to verify the production process and chemical use of pulp manufacturers, and to test the organic chlorine content of pulp to determine whether it meets the standards for chlorine-free bleaching of sulfate. Requirements include having corresponding production equipment and production process controls to ensure that the bleaching process does not contain chlorine and to ensure the mass of the pulp.
