The purpose of this standard is to specify a method for the determination of UV Absorbance of mineral oils. It is divided into A method and B method. It is suitable for the use of mineral oils in components of non-food products in contact with food. Method A is suitable for mineral oils with chroma not less than 20. After extraction with dimethyl sulfoxide, its UV Absorbance is measured in the 280~ 350nm Wavelength range. The required instruments include pipette, separatoryfunnel, quartz Absorption cell, cuvette and spectrophotometer, and analysis of pure n-hexane as a reagent.
