The HJ 636-2012 standard specifies a method for the determination of total nitrogen in water. Ultraviolet spectrophotometry is digested by alkaline potassium persulfate. It is suitable for the determination of total nitrogen in surface water, groundwater, industrial wastewater and domestic sewage. When the sample volume is 10 ml, the detection limit of the method is 0.05 mg/L, and the determination range is 0.20~ 7.00 mg/L. The method uses alkaline potassium persulfate to dissolve the nitrogen-containing compounds in the sample and convert it to nitrate. Absorbance is measured at 220 nm and 275 nm by Ultraviolet spectrophotometry, and the corrected Absorbance is calculated, and the total nitrogen content is determined accordingly.
