GB 4793-2024 Safety Technical Specifications for Electrical Equipment for Measurement, Control and Laboratory Use is a mandatory national standard to be implemented in China to ensure the safety performance of electrical equipment for measurement, control and laboratory use. The standard specifies safety requirements for equipment marking and documentation, protection against electric shock, protection against mechanical hazards, resistance to mechanical stress, prevention of flame spread, temperature limits and heat resistance of equipment, protection against fluid and solid foreign body hazards, protection against radiation (including laser sources) and sound pressure and ultrasonic pressure, protection against released gases and substances and explosions and internal explosions, components and assemblies, and protection with interlocking devices. Applicable to the design, production, inspection and use of electrical equipment for measurement, control and laboratory use, including industrial automation equipment. The standard will be implemented on November 1, 2026, partially replacing GB 4793.1-2007.
