The standard DS/ISO 21683 "Pigments and whitening agents - Determination of release of experimentally simulated nano-objects in paints, varnishes and chromadizing plastics" specifies experimental methods for the determination of release of nano-objects in paints, varnishes and chromadizing plastics. With the wide application of nanotechnology in coatings and plastics, it has become particularly important to evaluate the impact of nano-objects that may be released during use of these materials on the environment and human health. The standard provides a scientific basis for material safety assessment by simulating actual use conditions and measuring the release of nano-objects in paints and plastics.
