ASTM D968-22 specifies a test method for determining abrasion resistance of organic coatings by drop abrasive method. This method evaluates the durability of coatings under conditions of repeability friction or abrasion by allowing the abrasive to fall freely from a fixed height and strike the surface of the coating. Test results are expressed in the volume of abrasive tolerated by the coating or the amount of abrasive consumed, and are suitable for comparing the wear resistance of different coatings or evaluating the effect of coating processes.
