ASTM D3886-22 is a standard test method for determining the abrasion resistance of Spinning & weaving fabrics using an inflatable diaphragm device. The method is suitable for all types of Spinning & weaving fabrics, including but not limited to garments, household artifacts, technical textiles, etc. During testing, the fabric is fixed to an inflated rubber membrane and then abrasion is performed through a swirl/spin grinding wheel. The speed and pressure of the grinding wheel can be adjusted to simulate the strain of the fabric in actual use. By using this standard method, reliable abrasion resistance testing data can be obtained. In addition, a new version of the standard has been released in 2022, covering more testing details and requirements.
