The ASTM D8271-21 standard provides a method for direct measurement of the surface profile of precast concrete, suitable for both field and laboratory environments. The method evaluates the adhesion and performance of concrete surfaces to coatings or linings by quantifying their asperity. The procedure for obtaining measurement values directly from concrete surfaces using instruments such as the Electronic Depth Micrometer is described in detail in the standard. In addition, the standard also provides a conversion table between qualitative evaluation methods (such as ICRI CSP chips) and quantitative measurement results, which is convenient for users to compare and apply between different measurement methods.
