TAPPI T 839 is a standard test method for measuring the edge compression strength of corrugated fibreboards. The short column test is carried out using the fixture method. The standard applies to single-wall, double-wall and three-wall corrugated fibreboards. In the test, a rectangular specimen is clamped between two platens of the Compression Tester, and pressure is applied until the specimen collapses, and the maximum pressure value is recorded.
