      ISO 1 2947-2 is an international standard that specifies the method for determining specimen damage when measuring fabric abrasion resistance using the Martindale method. This standard applies to all Spinning & weaving products, including nonwovens, but not to coated fabrics. In the test, the round specimen is rubbed against the standard abrasive under a specified load to form a Lisaru pattern track, and the abrasion resistance is assessed by periodically checking the specimen for breakage or damage. Different fabric types (e.g. woven fabrics, knitted fabrics, fleece fabrics, etc.) have different damage endpoints. For example, woven fabrics require two yarns to break completely, while knitted fabrics require one yarn to break. The test results are expressed by the number of friction times before the specimen reaches the end point of damage, and the lowest single result is used as the abrasion resistance index of the sample. This standard provides a scientific basis for the quality control and research and development of Spinning & weaving products.
