The ASTM D8142-23 standard specifies a method for the determination of vocs (VOC) emissions from curing lame plating polyurethane foam (SPF) insulation materials using a miniature environment test chamber. This method combines specific air sampling and analytical techniques, such as pyrolytic getter phase chromatograph/Mass spectrometry (TD-GC/MS), to identify and quantify chemical emissions from SPF materials under specific conditions. Test results can be used for product development, quality control, and comparative analysis of field samples. This standard applies to SPF insulation samples from new lame plating and can also be used to investigate odor complaints from materials that have been used.
