ISO 6272-1-2011 standard specifies a method for assessing the resistance of dry-film paints, varnishes or related products to cracking or flaking on substrates subjected to a drop weight test over a large area. The test simulates the rapid deformation of dry-film by dropping a 20 mm diameter spherical indenter from a specified height under standard conditions. The second revision of this standard includes changes in the clearance between the conduit and the drop weight, adjustments to the test conditions and additional test reporting requirements. ISO 6272-1-2011 can be used as a tool for evaluating the performance of coatings under impact weight and is suitable for pass/fail or classification tests.
