This standard specifies a general test method for comparing the hiding power of similar white pigments, using technical requirements consistent with ISO 2814-1973. The same formulation of paint is used in the test, and a film of consistent thickness is prepared on a polyester film. The contrast ratio is calculated by measuring the reflectance on black and white backgrounds to evaluate the hiding power of white pigments. The standard covers the materials and instruments required, including linseed oil modified glycerol alkyd resin, various drying agents, swirl/spin lacquer, etc., to ensure the accuracy and repeatability of test results. The implementation of this standard helps to unify the hiding power evaluation method of white pigments and improve the conformity of pigment performance comparison.
