This standard test method is used to evaluate the solubility of metals in art materials in a weak acid medium, and is particularly suitable for assessing the amount of easily absorbable metals. This method determines the extractability of metals by simulating acid extraction from gastric juice, and is able to more accurately reflect the latent risk of the material in the actual use environment than traditional methods. This test is suitable for assessing the toxicological safety of artworks, but is not a substitute for comprehensive in vivo testing. Test results below 250 ppm can be used in standard extraction volumes; above 250 ppm, the extract volume needs to be increased to ensure accuracy.
