This standard provides a test method for the measurement of the internal stress of metallic coatings by the split strip method (deposition stress analyzer). This method is used to quantify the internal tensile or compressive stress in coatings to monitor mass assurance during production. Stress values range from 200 to 145000 psi (1.38 to 1000 MPa) and are suitable for Eletroplating or chemical deposition processes. The standard helps correct the effect of Coating thickness on stress measurement.
