The ASTM D6625-13 (2020) standard evaluates the protective performance of polishes through Fluorescent Ultraviolet and Condensed Light testing. Unlike traditional xenon arc or carbon arc Light sources, this standard uses Fluorescent Ultraviolet irradiation combined with water condensation and heat to simulate the effect of light aging in the natural environment. Periodic Gloss readings are taken on the sample during the test to monitor changes in the performance of the polish under different environment conditions. The standard does not provide predictions of outdoor performance, but accelerates testing of the durability of the polish to help evaluate its protective ability in practical applications.
