This standard specifies a method for measuring the flow time of paints, varnishes and similar Coating materials using the DIN flow cup. It is suitable for evaluating the flowability and suitability of Coatings, but not for Coatings with a Flow rate time of less than 25 seconds (corresponding to a kinematic viscosity of approximately 90 mm ²/s). Flow rate time should not exceed 150 seconds (kinematic viscosity of approximately 700 mm ²/s) when using the ISO 2431 flow cup. The standard was published in 1987 and was published by the German Institute for Standardization (DIN).
