This standard specifies the method of testing sealants for artificial efflorescences under laboratory conditions. The effects of actinic radiation, high temperature and moisture on sealants were tested by using equipment such as Xenon-arc lamps, Fluorescent Ultraviolet lamps and open flame carbon arc lamps. Results may vary depending on equipment and operating conditions, so a detailed report of operating conditions is required. The standard stresses that laboratory tests cannot fully simulate all conditions in the actual environment and that test results should be compared with control materials with known properties to assess relative durability.
