The ASTM F1884-04 (2023) standard provides a test method for the determination of residual solvents in Encasement materials, mainly for the detection of vocs released by Encasement materials under high temperature conditions. This method facilitates the development and manufacture of Encasement materials with minimal solvent retention. The standard covers procedures for determining the amount of residual solvents in sealed vials and recommends the use of techniques such as gas chromatograph/mass spectrometry to identify unknown volatile organic matter. This method does not cover the determination of total residual solvents, and users need to take their own safety measures and comply with international standards.
