The D5331-03 (2016) standard test method is used to evaluate and compare the performance of stretched parcel films in mechanical handling, especially in a simulated distribution environment. The method simulates all stages from handling to transportation, helping the user understand the viability of the film in various material handling methods (e.g. forklift, push/pull, etc.). The test can be adjusted in levels and number of cycles as needed to suit the specific distribution environment. The test results are used to compare the effectiveness of different Encasement cycles, but are not directly related to the actual field performance. The user is required to perform sample preparation and evaluation according to the guidance of standards such as D4169, D6055 and D6179. The values of the standard are in inches-pounds, and the SI units are for reference only. The user should establish appropriate safety measures and regulatory compliance before use.
