GB/T 454-2002 Standard for the determination of bursting resistance of paper describes a method for determining the bursting resistance of paper by the principle of hydraulic increment. It is suitable for single-layer or multi-layer papers with bursting resistance in the range of 70 kPa to 1400 kPa, and cannot be used for composites such as corrugated fibreboards. The standard specifies the measurement principles of bursting resistance, instrumentation requirements, preparation and test procedures of the specimen, and emphasizes the accuracy and calibrating requirements of clamping systems, film, hydraulic systems and pressure measurement systems. The final result includes bursting resistance values and bursting index, which are used to evaluate the durability and strength of the paper.
