It is applicable to anodic oxide coatings in a variety of fields, including mechanical, municipal, transportation, electrical, Encasement, construction and decoration applications. The standard does not apply to barrier-type non-porous anodic oxide coatings, membranes generated in chromic acid solutions or membranes used as substrates for organic coatings or metal platings.
