The ASTM D4798-2021 standard test method is used to evaluate the accelerated aging characteristics of asphalt materials under Xenon-arc Light sources. This method compares the performance of asphalt materials with known weathering materials by simulating the efflorescences of light, heat, and other environmental conditions. Since the relationship between accelerated weathering and natural efflorescences is influenced by geographical climate, weather changes, and material properties, this specification cannot establish a generally applicable time conversion relationship. The test results should be verified with actual outdoor aging, and this standard applies to asphalt materials. Although it can also be used for Miscellaneous materials, its significance and use have not been fully evaluated.
