The standard regulates the competency requirements for testing and calibrating laboratories, with the aim of improving the Reliability and Effectiveness of laboratories. The standard applies to all laboratories conducting testing, calibrating and related sampling activities. Compared with the previous version, the new version adds risk-based management thinking, reduces normative requirements, and changes to performance-based requirements to improve flexibility. The standard requires laboratories to plan and manage risks and opportunities to ensure fairness and conformity, while being compatible with the ISO 9001 standard and promoting international mutual recognition of results and cooperation.
