This standard provides anti-corrosion design guidelines and recommendations for hot-dip galvanized coatings for steel structures. Hot-dip galvanizing enhances the corrosion resistance of steel products by immersing them in molten zinc to form a coating. The standard covers the effect of coating application methods, product design requirements, and environmental exposure conditions on coating protection. In addition, the standard mentions that hot-dip galvanized products can be further protected by additional organic coatings such as paints or powder coatings to form a "two-phase system". This document does not apply to hot-dip galvanized coatings for continuous wire or sheet. The updated version of the standard includes technical improvements and new tables in the appendix to enhance practical instructions for users.
