This standard describes a method for testing the various stages of coating drying or curing using a mechanical recorder. With this test it is possible to quantify the drying time of organic coatings in a controlled environment, thus comparing the drying behavior of different coatings. Mechanical recorders are able to provide accurate drying time data, especially for application scenarios where coating performance needs to be known in a short time. This method is suitable for evaluating the stacking conditions that coatings may encounter in actual use and helps to determine the drying characteristics of coatings within a standard working day. The test results can be used to compare the curing speed of coatings and their performance during drying.
