This standard specifies a method for dispersing pigments and fillers using a three-roll mill. It applies to high-viscosity grinding materials by which it is possible to evaluate how pigments and fillers behave in a three-roll mill during production. This method requires to be performed at a constant temperature to improve the accuracy of the results and cannot be directly compared with the results of the Miscellaneous dispersion method. The implementation of ISO 8780-6 helps to ensure the conformity of the dispersion effect of pigments and fillers in actual production with the results of laboratory tests. The standard also emphasizes the ease of operation of the three-roll mill equipment and the advantages of handling high-viscosity materials.
