This standard specifies external protective coating systems for ductile cast iron pipes and their components. The coating system consists of electrodeposited metallic zinc coatings (which can be pure metallic zinc, zinc-aluminum alloys or Miscellaneous zinc alloys) followed by a finishing layer such as asphalt paint or a synthetic resin compatible with zinc-based coatings. Compared with the old version, the new version increases the minimum zinc content from 130 g/m ² to 200 g/m ² to improve the protective effect of the coating, extend the service life of the pipe, and enhance protection against various corrosion types. This standard applies to pipe components specified in ISO 2531, ISO 7186 and ISO 16631.
