This standard specifies two methods for the determination of lead in Paints, including the flame atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS) method (AAS) and the dithiazone Spectrophotometric method, spectrophotometry. Suitable for "soluble" coatings with lead content in the range of 0.05% to 5% (m/m). The standard recommends the use of the AAS method as the adjudication method in disputed situations, while the dithiazone spectrophotometry is an optional alternative method.
