It is mainly used to assess the loss of volatile matter, including moisture, to powders during heating. The standard provides a simple and practical test method for powders with mass loss of about 2%, with low accuracy for exceeding this value. Compared to the previous edition, the new edition adds term definitions and principle clauses and updates the references.
