The ISO 15711-2003 standard specifies two methods for testing the cathode disbonding resistance of coatings applied to metal substrates in a seawater environment. Method A uses cathode protection circuitry, while Method B uses sacrificial anodes to simulate protection conditions in a real marine environment. The tests are designed to assess the disbonding resistance of coatings in harsh seawater environments. The test period is recommended to be at least 26 weeks to provide a reference for the long-term performance of coatings. The standard applies to Coating systems for ships and marine structures and does not apply to terrestrial structures.
